Responsibility is Extinct
In America’s culture today, responsibility is extinct. It has become the norm for people to blame someone else for their short comings. ”I am poor. It’s the government’s fault.” ”I played football ten years ago and it is the NFL’s fault that I still wake up still in pain.” ”I am loosing my house in foreclosure. It is the bank’s fault.” ”I can’t get a job. It is my parent’s fault for not paying for my college.” BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!
Yesterday, we heard about the government’s plan to bail out the banks that are going under. It is a prime example of my point. The government is going to bail out a big company to “save the american economy”. How about we let the banks pay for mistakes that they have made in lending out money that does not exist and doing it so to people who do not qualify for it. I know that a lot of people will suffer the blow but it is not the government’s responsibility. Doesn’t the government already owe a lot of money already, themselves? What kind of responsible move is it to loan out money that they don’t have? Won’t that put the government in the same boat as the banks? Isn’t that boat sinking?
Earlier this week, it was also reported that 12 ex-NFL players are donating their brains to science when they die. They are hoping to find out the link between concussions and football. Let’s see. If you get hit really hard over and over again in the head by a 300+ pound man, wouldn’t that cause some damage? These athletes are saying that the NFL should put into affect some kind of measure to prevent this. I think that measure is the contract that is signed when they become a player. If you do not want to take the risk of getting hurt and suffering life long health problems, don’t get on the field.
A couple years ago, hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast. Today, people are still blaming the government for them not having a house. Now I understand that this may be a sticky issue and that there are people being screwed over by the insurance companies and such. However, didn’t these people decide to live in an area that is subjected to hurricanes on a yearly basis? Wasn’t it their decision to stay when there were warnings several days ahead of the storm? Isn’t it the fleshing out of “building your house upon the sand”? Does anybody else see this besides me?!
Responsibility, to me, seems to be an easy concept to grasp. I do “A” and “B”. I will get “C” as the result. If I buy that big screen TV and that iPhone, I won’t be able to pay my rent. If the bank loans money that they do not have to someone who cannot pay it back, then there will be an issue. Let’s get with the program people.
My rant is done…….. for now.
